Chris and Townley had their early March wedding at Lavendar Oaks Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It was a cold, but sunny day and the weather was absolutely in our favor. We have had a rather wet and cold winter this year.  Their day went smooth as ever and there were so many special memories shared.  Some of my favorites include the two first looks with Townley’s dads, the bridesmaids getting a Mia Hamm cameo (google these for a fun gift idea!), Townley’s veil falling off during the ceremony, but she going with the flow beautifully, and of course, their first look out in the lavender fields.  This was my first time at this venue and I really enjoyed it.  There are lots of places for different events during the day to stage photos, the lavender itself is a beautiful object to work with, and Karen, the owner and planner, is such a boss!  I definitely recommend getting married here!

ONE DAY, EVERYTHING CHANGED

I USED TO HATE PHOTOGRAPHING PEOPLE

My photography career started in high school with a darkroom class. When learning, I naturally gravitated towards what inspired me: birds, nature, pretty sunsets, patterns, and anything colorful. However, my teacher challenged me to try taking pictures of people. At the time, I protested and instead chose to do self portraits.

It wasn't until 2017 when I was asked to second shoot a wedding that my opinion changed. On that day, I experienced the joys of what make weddings special. I was invited into an intimate and emotionally full day with guests coming from out of state, generations of families putting on their elevated outfits, the raw tears of a first look, and the love pouring out of the couple and its guests.

Capturing all of this was powerful, rewarding, and energizing. I knew from then on what I wanted to do with my life.
