I met Mary Taylor through Katharine Mann Wedding & Event planning. I’ve worked with Katharine on a few weddings already plus a few more planned for the future! When Mary Taylor got engaged, Katharine immediately suggested me as a photographer, which I was super thankful for!

Mary Taylor and Rick braved the cold to have their engagement session at Reynolda Gardens and Old Salem, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We started off at Reynolda Gardens. I love the big grassy yard, the trees, the pathways in front of the large house, the greens! We had a good time there. Afterwards, we made the quick drive over to Old Salem and finished up the session there. You can stand in front of any building in Old Salem and it’ll look amazing! I love the variety of backdrops as well as the vintage charm.

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in 2021, which will be at Forsyth Country club. Stay tuned for more from them!

ONE DAY, EVERYTHING CHANGED

I USED TO HATE PHOTOGRAPHING PEOPLE

My photography career started in high school with a darkroom class. When learning, I naturally gravitated towards what inspired me: birds, nature, pretty sunsets, patterns, and anything colorful. However, my teacher challenged me to try taking pictures of people. At the time, I protested and instead chose to do self portraits.

It wasn't until 2017 when I was asked to second shoot a wedding that my opinion changed. On that day, I experienced the joys of what make weddings special. I was invited into an intimate and emotionally full day with guests coming from out of state, generations of families putting on their elevated outfits, the raw tears of a first look, and the love pouring out of the couple and its guests.

Capturing all of this was powerful, rewarding, and energizing. I knew from then on what I wanted to do with my life.
